Three days trip along a road that goes north through the Ethiopian plateau where the big tributaries of the Blue Nile flow

Few kilometres from Addis Ababa, to the north, it begins a territory where the big rivers tributaries of the Blue Nile flow: Jemma and Wonchit, among the richest in fish rivers in Ethiopia. It is the Ethiopian plateau, where the erosion of the water created deep valleys, and eagles and lammergeiers fly on the cliffs. Our trip goes up and down in a quite countryside, land of farmers where the lifestyle is still strongly tied to traditions.

The names of the villages are Lemi, Kokomesk, Fetra, Midda… And Alem Ketema, our main base for the exploration of the surround. Excursion to the 836 steps of the Abuna Melketsedek monastery take us to a holy place for Orthodox believers. It is a modern church in a cave, with fifty-one mummified bodies, dead five centuries ago!
